Prostate Cancer Research Fund

The Prostate Cancer Research Fund at Morriston Hospital, Swansea, was started up within the Department of Urology at Morriston Hospital some six years ago.  The main aim of the fund was to raise money which could be utilised to support local research initiatives into the diagnosis, treatment and general management of carcinoma of the prostate. 

The main thrust of the initial fund raising activities came from witin the department, however, as the fund has developed, the outside organisation and patients have kindly given up their time to raise money.

The fund is particularly keen to give grants to local research organisations to pump prime research.  The fund currently has close links with a number of different institutions particularly the Department of Life Sciences at Swansea University, where a number of interesting research avenues into Prostate Cancer are being persued.
